The name given by Karnataka government for the Bangalore metro rail project, which started around in April 2007, is now ready for a ride. It can be said as the most awaited ride of the city, people wait for a new car or bike or movie to be launched but in Bangalore people waited for the metro to be launched. The times of India printed a special feature on namma metro, which our humble chief minister Mr. Sadanand gowda was very much happy to thank the newspaper, which showed the progress of the metro, the number of labourers worked on it and from which places they came from. It also printed the views of some people about the joy the metro is bringing with it. Many are of the opinion that it will reduce the traffic, but up to what extent only time will tell, there was a sentence which caught like fire in Facebook that was “namma metro bega katro”, that means “our metro build it fast”. Between this entire works the one who suffered the most was the common man, who has to take other routes to reach his/ her office/company as the one which they use to go is being used for the construction of the metro. Many have to tie scarfs to protect themselves from pollution. And about pollution free metro ride there is an article printed in TOI by deepti ganapathy. One of my friend went to have a look at the things going on at the inaugural of the metro came back by after noon and said that it will be taking place at 4:00 pm for the common citizens and for the dignitaries it will be at 10:30 am in the morning. If the special dignitaries come on time, else same, routine Indian standard time maintained by people of India, that not doing the things on time, take metro itself as an example it took around 1645 days to complete to just complete the 7km of phase1. And there is also an article about construction of metro’s in other countries, actually the comparison should not be done, (the politics, corruption, change of government etc). The Dubai metro finished its work in record time within four years it built about 75 km and is cited as the worlds longest fully automated metro network.
Many things which I have written here are taken from times of India newspaper dated 20-10-2011, thank you TOI. Let’s wish namma metro to be a success, as many people are waiting for its ride, and to them who have worked day and night for this metro to become history, I don’t know when will I be taking a ride in it. Enjoy your ride fellow citizens, till then c ya….. 🙂
